OTHONGTHAI

LERT × Othongthai : From System to Ritual Object

In March 2025, as part of the launch display event for Othongthai at FV39, LERT reconfigured its modular Shelf System into a sculptural vanity inspired by antique dressing tables. Originally conceived as a flat-pack, adaptable system for nomadic living, the LERT Shelf transforms here into a ceremonial object — one centered around intimacy and daily ritual. Drawing from the quiet elegance of antique vanities, the piece reinterprets symmetry, proportion, and presence through LERT’s modular logic.

The structure retains its modular DNA while adopting a more sculptural composition, shifting from utilitarian storage to a stage for reflection — a surface for mirrors, vessels, and personal artifacts.

WANDERING KITCHEN

Wandering Kitchen was born from a moment of collaboration between Antto Melasniemi and Lynn Visudharomn, who first cooked together at Indigo World — a spontaneous encounter that planted the seeds of what would later take form as a living, moving kitchen. That first act of cooking — open, improvisational, and communal — became the foundation of a broader conversation around food, craft, and care. It inspired a shift in how Wonderfruit could approach food altogether: not as service, but as art, as social exchange, as a way of gathering and creating meaning together. The Wandering Kitchen is a platform for collaboration, experimentation, and gathering. Here, mobility becomes philosophy — drawing from the street vendor’s wisdom, the cart’s adaptability, and the ingenuity of kitchens built to move. It celebrates improvisation, resourcefulness, and the everyday hacks that turn constraint into creativity. Cooking becomes a practice of making-do and making-possible — where repair, reuse, and responsiveness shape both the process and the meal. Built by LERT DEPARTMENT, the kitchen exists as a living prototype for a modular cooking platform — a system designed for adaptability and movement, shaped by craftsmanship and care.
